My Journey So Far!

My name is Pau Bartolomé and I was born in Reus, a town near Tarragona.

I have loved videogames since I was a child, and some of my fondest memories are receiving new consoles such as the Nintendo DS at Christmas or the PlayStation 3 for my first communion. According to my mother, the most reliable source ever, whenever I was asked what I wanted to do when I grew up, I always replied, ‘Make videogames’.

Time passed, and in 2019, I finally began my journey as a game developer by starting a Bachelor’s degree in Design and Production of Videogames at Tecnocampus in Mataró, Spain. The course covered a wide range of areas, including design, programming, art, production… These four years were useful for learning C#, as well as game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine.
The course was also useful to work on numerous projects, including Allpack.co (winner of the TecnoGames 2022 public vote) and my final thesis project: Shōnen RPG, which involved researching manga and the shōnen genre tropes and adapting them into RPG mechanics and systems through a playable prototype made with Unity.

As the Bachelor’s degree covered a wide range of topics but did not focus heavily on any one area of game development, I was eager to learn more about Game and Level Design. So, in 2024, I started a Master’s degree in Game Design at U-tad in Las Rozas, Spain.
The year was a great opportunity to enchance my skills, thanks to the different subjects and the final project of the Master’s degree, which involved creating a video game in eight months with a team of 30+ other students. The result was Lady Umbrella, a 3D action-adventure shooter made in Unreal Engine 5, on which I worked primarily as a game and level designer.

I am currently looking for new challenges, projects, and professional opportunities to continue developing my skills as a game and level designer.
